Marty Candine is a free safety for the Montreal Royal.
Biography
High School football in Hill Valley is like apple pie. The Hill Valley HS Raiders are the toast of the town and nearly every young lad aspires to one day join their ranks. Marty was no different and spent much of his younger years playing for various city and school teams before finally making it to high school. There was only one problem: Marty's size. He really was too short and too small to play most of the positions and his legs weren't strong enough to pursue kicking. This was evident during try outs when he only made the team as a 4th string benchwarmer because of his persistence and attitude. Still, he worked harder than the rest and one day halfway through his junior season got a shot to come in at safety when a rash of injuries and illnesses opened the spot up. He quickly stood out during the game, catching three interceptions and making a game-saving tackle to preserve the victory. As the coaches and fans would learn, what Marty lacked in size, he more than made up in effort and speed, greatly enhancing his ability. He did so well that he finished out the rest of the junior season as a starter and quickly emerged as one of the stars his senior year. Following high school he signed with the local college, Hill Valley State, and had a productive tenure with them as well, before an ankle injury concluded his senior season early and ended his hopes of entering the UFFL draft. For the past couple years he has worked as a car salesman, but has been training hard again for the last 2 years with the desire to pursue his dream of playing professionally.
Interview
How would your defensive player respond to the question, "Describe your most memorable play in college?
For not the best reason, my most memorable play would be injuring my ankle in the 3rd quarter my last game as a senior. Because of that injury I was determined to be undraftable and had to give up my dreams of playing pro.
What is your player's favorite vacation spot? What do they like to do there?
Anywhere retro town, preferably with a 50's or 80's vibe
Football players sign contracts with teams to get paid millions of dollars. When your player is signed to a team, are they going to care more about security (staying on a team longer) or money (earning the big $$$) in their contract offer?
MONEY.
What is your player doing in the off-season to improve their chances of being drafted higher?
Working harder than ever before. Marty has been training for 2 years just to regain what he had lost in the injury.
