Abe Whitney is a veteran linebacker bat in the UFFL who previously played for the California Dons.
History
At the beginning of the 2014 Season, news outlets started reporting that Whitney had been charged with 2 counts of sabotage when an unknown source from Baltimore reported that Whitney was selling game strategy plans to the Ponies for cash rewards. Whitney’s lawyer, as well as representatives from California and Baltimore both declined to comment on the matter.
On September 20, 2014, the Dons chose to formally release Abe Whitney until the accusations could be cleared or convinced. Under league rules, Whitney must wait two weeks before choosing to re-sign with California, or select Free Agency and sign with another team.
On November 14, 2014, the Dons signed Whitney back to their roster after the injury of Brian Partner.
During his eight year in the major leagues, on November 27, 2015, Whitney was humorously moved from starting roster duty to the Dons Practice Squad in favor of fresh-eyed Richard Ziegler (mountain lion). Whitney was promised the remainder of his salary, but vowed he would "most likely" not be returning to California after the 2015 season.
