Owen Walker is a Tight End for the Easton Bald Eagles in the UFFL.

Biography

Owen is a first generation American; his parent immigrated from South Korea a few years before he was born. His father is an engineer working on a power plant development project. His mother is a nurse, and went back to work as soon as she considered Nathan old enough to mind himself and the house after school. His given name is 'Woo-jin' , but both he and his parents tend to use Westernized versions of their names in an effort to fit in.

Owen grew up fairly happy, if isolated; his parents tended towards limiting his interactions with other kids, from an overabundance of caution; they recognized that they were a fairly uncommon sight in the Midwest. Owen, though, was gregarious and was constantly pushing for more opportunities to make friends and 'hang out' with kids his age. Sports became his go to, as both of his parents strongly approved of him exercising. He played in rec soccer and basketball as a kid, and started playing football in Jr. High. He bounced around positions, first as a running back, and then as a safety, but he found his stride at tight end, with a new coach, his Junior Year.

The previous coach had played very traditional schemes, but the new coach - a much younger beaver, came with a lot of ideas. He singled Own out for his overall athleticism, speed and solid paws and started developing schemes that worked around the leopard at tight end. This started showing fruit as the season progressed, and Owen became something of a celebrity. At the end of the year they made the quarter finals at the Class 5A playoffs.

His senior year went even better as the team adapted to the newer schemes. Owen bulked up over the summer, and along with the teams otter QB, led the team to the state Championship. Own's social stock was understandably high - he was also chosen as prom King. While he had many, many interested girls (and a few boys as well), he rarely went on dates during the season, and was in no way the playboy that a football star might be. He did get close with a somewhat nerdy possum once the season wore down and they stayed together for the rest of the year to the chagrin of many more popular girls.

He was recruited by Colorado Mountainside, and seemed content to stay fairly close to home, though he rarely actually visited. His parents did come to some games, especially the championships, but they were far from the standard boosters. The opinion from his teammates is that they wanted a more academically successful son; Owen doesn't talk about it. Nor was he a slouch in school, finishing his High School with a 3.6 GPA.

At CM, he majored in Exercise Science, hoping to improve his own performance and with an eye towards becoming a physical therapist after graduating, or perhaps after his time playing professionally. He continued to be an impact play there, and against helping lead the team to a solid senior season, with over 1000 receiving yards, averaging just shy of 80/game.

Player Survey

How does your player's unique physicality (think species) fit well for the position that they play?
Owen is very quick, and is lithe/flexible and able to break through blocking patterns well. He's definitely played more of the wide receiver side of his role, but players tend to be surprised at well he's able to block, when it's called for.

What is your player's biggest weakness?
He's weaker on the blocking side of his role and can run tall in his routes.
