Mayer didn't get any snaps his freshman year, due to an illness unrelated to football, but by his Sophomore year he was working up the tackle statistics again. One of his leading attributes was his ability to read running backs and focus on those situations. In 2020 he was third in the conference in sacks (8), and fourth in tackles (90). That was good enough to get Prairie Valley into the Top 25 for the first time in ten years, and to get the scouts' attention. Ultimately Mayer declared for the draft, hoping to land somewhere and jumpstart a defense that needs to shut down a rival's running back game. | Mayer didn't get any snaps his freshman year, due to an illness unrelated to football, but by his Sophomore year he was working up the tackle statistics again. C.C. Mayer is a Defensive End for the Colorado Crushers in the UFFL.
Biography
Carl was born in the Willamette Valley area of Oregon and was a well-fed skunk. His father, a local chef in Medford, didn't see much for his family's future in the city and encouraged his son to partake in any extracurriculars. As he was already quite a big child, that naturally led to junior football.
Mayer, who went by C.C. by his high-school years (let's face it: Carl isn't a very attractive name), worked his tail off to make football his future. As many players will tell you, it just sort of happens, or it doesn't. By 2014, he led Oregon high schools in tackling, and was offered a scholarship to Prairie Valley University in Corvallis.

Player Survey
How does your player's unique physicality (think species) fit well for the position that they play?
Skunks tend to be nimble and agile, and while a fluffy tail might slow him down a bit, it does 'take up space' and offers the chance to trip up the casual running back a time or two.
What is your player's biggest weakness?
C.C. doesn't have a consistent health record, and lost some of his explosiveness his senior year due to a minor ankle injury.
If given the opportunity, would your player want to be formally mentored by another player? Why or why not?
Maybe a bit naive, C.C. offers himself instead to mentor another rookie or work with the team. Although this can't happen, it shows a bit of unexpected leadership from the young mephitid.
