Kiyoshi Kiyama is a Free Safety for the Miami Tropics in the UFFL.

Biography

Kiyoshi was someone who fought tooth and nail to get into the league, even after everything lined up perfect for him to be successful elsewhere. He was originally born in Tokyo, Japan, and still has relatives there, however after just as Kiyoshi was starting his second year of elementary school in Japan his family decided that it would be better for them to move to America.

And after the long period of just moving everything Kiyoshi was finally ready to go to American elementary school. He struggled with English specifically, as it was not really his native language and any English he was taught in Japan was very barebones, however he showed determination and after a few years he was the top of his class in English. He also managed to get good grades in his other subjects too. It was around the beginning of middle school that he discovered the sport of American football, and thought it was the coolest thing to watch. He then instantly started playing with the other boys at the school... but only casually, as he wasn't really the best. However, he still loved playing the sport and, in 8th grade, finally signed up. He struggled at first, as he did not know what to look for, however he still showed impressive amounts of determination.

After hours of practice both on and off the field, he finally managed to snag a spot as the team's second string free safety when he started high school, though he was promoted to first string his sophomore year. He was showing a lot of promise in the sport, however it all came to a halt when he was offered a scholarship to a prestigious college because of his amazing test scores in his subjects. After quite some time torn on what to do, he eventually actually turned down the offer, which surprised many. He wanted to keep playing to get better, as that's what he wanted to do. He was eventually offered another scholarship the summer before his sophomore year though this time for football. He happily accepted and played out the rest of high school until eventually climbing the ranks in college.

Though Kiyoshi is extremely determined, he also happens to be extremely shy and only really ever opened up to people on his team. He also was an amazing student but struggles with stuff like music, acting, and giving speeches. He has loved anime since he was a child and thought it was oddly cool when he found out there were fans in America. His relationship with his parents is a bit shaky (they didn't like his decision of declining the scholarship) however they are slowly coming to terms with everything that has been happening. He has an odd distaste for traditionally "American" food.

Player Survey

How does your player's unique physicality (think species) fit well for the position that they play?
He's trained extremely hard to overcome his species' natural chubbiness to play his position, and it pays off. Though he isn't the most muscular, he is certainly surprisingly agile, and can keep up in a race with most faster players while sticking with unpredictable cuts.

What is your player's biggest weakness?
He likes to play a little too safe; he would rather make sure he absolutely knows who has the ball or who the ball is going to rather then taking an educated guess, which sometimes turns out to be the better option. He's also slightly slower than a small section of the fastest players, and his awareness is only ever really a bit above average.
