Markus Nash is an offensive guard for the Fargo Axemen. He was drafted first overall in the 2017 UFFL Draft.
History
Markus Nash is not just called BoulderNash for the wordplay. Most of his fanbase doesn't even get the pun, but the more wordsy among them can find humor. Fact of the matter is Nash is comparable to a boulder given breath, heart, and the ability to push back.
One of four sons in a family with ties to the meteorological industry, Markus was the sole standout among his family in regards to football. While playing and growing up with his brothers, Mark made a showing in high school football as a near invincible Lineman and was heralded as a four star prospect in the 2013 high school class. Ultimately, Nash took his skills down to perennial favorite GSU in Galveston, Texas, rare as it is for Oklahoma prospects to make the jump to their Southern rival. The notable lack of a solid offensive line and the persuasion skill of GSU head coach Wes Eichmann probably played a vital role in winning over Nash.
Following a redshirt season, Nash took to the collegiate field in 2014, the first of three consecutive appearances by the Anchor-folk in the Division Championship series after a multi year drought. Considered by many to be the machinations of Coach Eichmann, credit is also attributed to a wild offense whose more famed players needs little fanfare (Authors note: Not this year anyway *wink*) but the Offensive Line, particularly Nash took their glacial stopping power and impressive strength to keep the GSU offensive machine running...and passing, uninhibited.
Following a 2016 season in which offensive records were bountiful for the GSU machine, Nash, among many pieces in that puzzle, were given pressure by the UFFL to commit to draft, and pressure by GSU personnel to stay around to reclaim the Conference championship after a heartbreaking finale to end the season. While fellow redshirt Junior QB Toby Graves and WR Savannah McPhee have confirmed their return to the Anchors for 2017, several other players, including Left Guard Nash, have dedicated to the 2017 UFFL draft, despite his status as a redshirt Junior.
In his three years at Gulf State, Nash brought his strength and prowess to a state of dread for Defenses across the collegiate field, more than earning his titles of BoulderNash or "The Boulder" from folks who pay attention to the antics of the offensive line in college sports. Scouting reports find Nash to be of immense value in a pass heavy team, as for how Nash excels in stopping power, strength, size, and sturdiness, his speed was never stellar. Expect teams intending to keep the pocket wide open for dynamic passing plays to keep a vested interest in the Offensive Guard from Gulf State.
