Gavin Zoeter is a rookie cornerback for the Miami Tropics.

Biography

One of those cases of a big personality coming from a small town, Gavin Zoeter is a brash young spotlight lover who, in his youth, has the explosive talents to match. A proud product of an Indiana upbringing, Gavin took the simple route from high school as a talented but unsigned cornerback. As such he went straight into a state college in Indianapolis, forgoing his redshirt option and playing, to at least notable acclaim, four years on the collegiate team, to mild success, making starter by his sophomore season of 2015, and even a surprise bowl appearance in 2016 during his junior campaign, Indianapolis Furry didn't quite hit the mark in 17, in part to an injury sidelining Zoeter for six vital weeks in the fall. Despite a full recovery and the draft on his mind, the notable absence cost IFU bowl consideration, but perhaps just added value to the cornerback, as many pundits wonder if he was the piece needed to get a team over the top.

Scrappy, bold, and showing intelligence on the gridiron, Zoeter has demonstrated a powerful presence on a team. However, boldness, intelligence, and youth leads to a fiery personality in need of some reining. Off field antics are dubious, but have not led to any absence on the field. Some may be concerned on the leap to the League, but the lack of suspensions and no lack to talent and drive to achieve make Zoeter an intriguing dare of an early pick in the 2018 draft. Failing that, he has earned a degree in pre physical therapy from Indianapolis Furry, a study he has shown since even before his football career took off…

Evaluation

3 stars and a half. Great natural talent, good football IQ. I like Gavin from a talent standpoint, but his style and personality can leave him vulnerable. Some coaches and players will not tolerate such behavior, but generally will if he can back it up on the field. If a team can put up with the excess of attitude, then he that solid 1st-round pick that the pundits and bloggers have predicted he’d be. Bold, fearless on the field, might be a constant nuisance to opposing WRs, great football mentality.
