Vanya Fradenburg is a Linebacker for the California Demons in the UFFL.

History

Growing up in Germany, Vanya Fradenburg had little exposure to American football and like most youngsters, was more interested in soccer and becoming the next Furry-Bundesliga superstar. The young saurian had potential as a center forward and was a candidate for the youth academy at FC Duisburg, her hometown club, but was overlooked for other candidates. Dejected, Vanya had given up on spots and had let herself go physically - and the numerous patched holes in the walls of her home served as reminders of her frustrations. It wasn't until just after her 15th birthday that her parents discovered an American football club in their hometown, the Duisburg Marauders, and suggested that Vanya try out for it...and to say that it was not pretty was an understatement. But she liked being able to hit people, quickly earning her nickname of "Rammsaurier" - the Ramming Dinosaur - after a few crunching hits. The coaches of the Marauders quickly converted her to an inside linebacker and she thrived on the junior squad.

It was Vanya's head coach, a fellow saurian himself, that suggested that she fly to the United States to go to Jurassic University and try out for the football team there. She struggled to adapt to the speed of the game and spent her first two seasons on the bench, mostly playing on special teams. Her junior season saw her get out on the field as part of the defense, and while she showed flashes of potential, there were other times where she looked lost and confused. But with persistence and dedication to learning her position, Vanya became a force to be reckoned with, and a lone bright spot on the Jurassic defense that turned out not to be so good. She had 102 tackles in 11 games for Jurassic, while forcing 5 fumbles, recovering 2 of them, and her lone interception would have gone for a touchdown if not for an illegal block in the back penalty.

Rookie Scouting Report

Brock Brezniski: Vanya is still very much a work in progress, even after her great season last year at JU. Her build would make her an ideal fit as an ILB but she would have to adapt to an even faster game at the UFFL level. However, once she is able to get downhill, she is as sure of a tackler as anyone in the draft. She would also have to work on her pass coverage skills in picking up smaller, faster backs, but she is very coachable and eager to prove herself.
